Make...

So I returned home for a couple of days after exploring Edmonton and Banff with the high school seniors I work with...  A good time, good food, and beautiful travel.  Tonight I'm in Seattle with a different group of students at an arts event.  As you might notice, there is a lot of stuff that I need to catch up on, namely spending time with H and the boys...  There are also a lot of things moving around my thoughts that I may end up putting here, we'll see.

Make
One quick thing worth mentioning though, is Make.  I just picked up the first issue and am enjoying it.  There are several good projects that I look forward to stumbling through (if you know me at all, you know that my best attribute is not that which involves working with these hands) with Ethan, especially the one on kite photography.  Hopefully, we can have that one ready for our trip down to my folks' in May.  In addition to the projects, there is a ton of stuff that I will begin sifting through tonight as I begin to drift...  Get a copy and enjoy.

In Common with Pigs...

So I came across this post today via Boing Boing...  Here's a little snipit.

A researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is launching a study where he'll zap pigs with stun guns. Bioengineer John Webster is testing his hypothesis that the 50,000 volt shock by itself may not be as deadly as critics claim. From the Associated Press:

Webster suggested some of the Taser-related deaths were from a rare condition known as malignant hyperthermia, in which bodies essentially overheat. He will test that theory on swine that have been specially bred to have the condition.

Interesting.  See, when I was young I was diagnosed with malignant hyperthermia.  So if we find ourselves at a party together and things seem to be a bit dull, and you begin to brainstorm how to liven things up, I kindly ask that you point the taser elsewhere.

Conversatio Fide

conversatio fide :: a podcastconversatio fide :: feed

Just came across this podcast that describes itself like this: "conversations with emerging leaders, church planters, pastors, spiritual directors, and regular folk about God, faith, church, life, and stuff like that."  Looks interesting!

I'm using playpod to manage and donload podcasts to iTunes.  If it's all new to you, check out wikipedia's overview.

Prayer for a Friend

Last night a friend of ours, Steve Flatau (H and I worked with Steve and his wife Jan and thier family in Havre, MT prior to living in Spokane.), stayed with us. His father passed away this weekend and he is traveling over to be with his mom and family. It was good to see him, although the circumstance was sobering.

Please pray with us for Steve and his family as he walks through this process of loss as it exists in tension with the ressurection of Jesus and the hope that springs eternal from that reality.

Grace and Peace to you Steve...
